After a long day in the office, Quinn flopped on the couch in Cam’s apartment. She eyed the freezer but stayed rooted to the couch. She didn’t do as much physically in the office today as she did when they were walking all over the airport. She shouldn’t need to ice her stomach. Without saying a word, Cam walked over to the freezer and pulled an ice pack out. Quinn scrunched up her nose. “I’m fine.”

Cam grinned, still holding the ice pack. “Would it make you feel better if I tossed the ice pack in your general direction instead of handing it to you like a doting boyfriend? That’s what I’d do for Tyler.”

“It’s a wonder Tyler hasn’t hunted you down to find out what we’re working on.” Shortly after their last operation ended, Quinn had been introduced to Cam’s best friend and fellow operations officer, Tyler Scott. Soon after that, she’d met his new wife, Dani, over a game of poker. Two things were immediately clear – Cam and Tyler were as thick as thieves and Tyler was a colossal smartass with a heart of gold. Dani was a little shyer and very put-together. However, after a few hours together, it became clear that she also had no trouble keeping up with Tyler. Quinn had never been close to many people and was finding the tight-knit group surprisingly warm and welcoming.

Cam handed her the ice pack. “He knows something is up, he’s just giving us space to deal with it. You sure you aren’t tired of putting up with me yet?”

Quinn adjusted to a more comfortable position. “I can’t complain about the service – I merely looked at the freezer and you got me an ice pack.”

“It’s just self-preservation. I need you healthy if you’re going to insist on chasing down Dmitri personally on this op. It’s only a matter of time before you go racing out the door with a gun in your hand. For the record, that’s not a good idea.”

Quinn chuckled. “That’s not as farfetched as I’d like to claim it is.” Quinn bit her lip. “I did find something today, though.”

Cam sat down on the couch next to her. “Awesome. Did you figure out who’s contacting our spy in Colorado?”

Quinn’s mouth set in a line. “I might have. One of our suspects opened the Waterfall file.”

“Nice. Which one?”

Quinn pointed to her laptop, which displayed a CIA badge photo for Joey P. “Third guy on our list. His name is Joey. Once I realized he triggered the alert, I just happened to meet him in the breakroom. We made some small talk. I’ll spend more time with him Monday. It’d be nice to have him slip up verbally, but I need something more to work with to draw it out of him.”

Cam propped up the tablet on the coffee table. “We have a call with Matt and Alexis in a few minutes. They’ve been getting close to Lindsay. Let’s see what they’ve come up with.”

Quinn put a hand over the ice pack resting on her stomach.
